What are the signs and symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome?

Signs and symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome may be different for everyone. These can include:

  • Pins and needles or numbness over the thumb, index finger, middle finger and ring finger (see diagram)
  • Burning or pain in the hand
  • Swelling across the palm or fingers
  • Weakness in the hand
  • Dropping objects frequently
